Join us from January 6 – January 9, 2016 to celebrate the work of one of our young designers, Asli Tusavul.  Her work, titled “Density / Non-Existing Reality“, will be shown in a group show at Art Share LA’s MODULE exhibition in Downtown LA’s Arts District, and highlights inspirations from various local artists.  This exhibition Asli recently joined our office as a masters graduate from SCI-Arc.  Her strength in graphics is only paralleled by her passion for architecture.

About “Density / Non-Existing Reality”:  Density, the state or quality of being dense, crowded or closely set, defines urban reality today. Urban blocks stack accidently, gather uncertain boundaries with colored layers and patterns, presenting individual characteristics. The heterogeneity of different systems evokes new ways of perceiving the city.  This thesis provokes architectural interpretation while reproducing distinct qualities that are contained within a dense urban environment. Defamiliarizing of architectural elements and figures, derived from the city establishes composition of volumes. This enhances the perception of the familiar. Graphic projection of misaligned figures articulates the form through coloration and produces multiple identities within each mass. Misreading different surfaces allows legibility of the form to blur into its neighbor. This diversity challenges what we see, or what we do not see, and introduces a new urban whole, which cannot exist by its city form, but requires communication with its audience to generate multiple and unique readings of the reality.
